Fathers Day.

Chris & baby Everett

Happy first Fathers Day to my husband, Chris.
Chris,
I know this past month has been a hard adjustment. I know it has also been pure joy. I know you miss us when you are at work. I know you work hard and think of us every minute. I know how much you love Everett. I know how much you love that I'm his momma. I know how special bath time is to you, its your time with your boy. I know how proud you are to have a son. I know how you beam when people say he looks just like you. I know how patient you are with him, with me. I know you can't wait to be rough and play with your boy. I know how you hate poopy diapers but you change them anyway. I know how Everett has changed your world, and means the world to you.
I knew you'd be a great dad.
I know you always will be.

sweet sleepin boy

Here are some shots of my sleeping boy this week. Man, aren't they so stinkin' sweet when they're asleep? I mean, he is when he's awake too, but my heart melts over my peaceful sleeping boy.

I always try to give him his paci. He takes it for about a minute,

then spits it out. I think he'd sleep better if he used it, since he likes to use me as a pacifer (which I am not going to let that go on).

Photobucket

Yesterday he fell asleep nursing, and he usually has his hands up by his face (in a fist or folded in half). Well when I pulled him away, I noticed his little hand left an indent on his face. Isn't it creepy how you can see his nail bed and everything?

Photobucket

Then, this morning, I caught the best sleepy smiles EVER.

Photobucket

Oh man, he is sleeping now and I just want to go hold him and squeeze him. I think I will.

mommy has no life.

sigh, my maternity leave is half way over. I am so sad.
My days are very boring, and long, but I treasure every second. Even though I am tired, I still make sure this house is clean and meals are made. Part of it is because this weird clean-freakness came over me after having Everett, and the other part is to kinda show my husband how awesome I'd be as a stay at home mom. I don't think he's noticed.
He has noticed some other things.
ONE- how my wardrobe has take a hit. Nothing fits me now. I am not too far off from my pre-pregnancy weight, just about 10 lbs, but my hips are still way wide. I currently live in these:

I love my Victorias Secret PINK sweats, and luckily Chris does too. One day we went out to dinner and I put my fat jeans on and he said "WOW! you're wearing JEANS!" Thats clue #1 I've been a little too frumpy. Clue #2 was when we were at the mall, passed Victorias Secret and he asked if I wanted a new pair of sweats since thats all I wear now. He was sweet about it, but whoa girl wear some real clothes ( I may or may not be wearing sweats and a tank as we speak. maybe I'll change before he gets home).

My husband thinks he is funny. Today, he sends me this e-mail:

someone downloaded "fatbooth" today. I sure hope he tried it out on himself and not just me. Yuck, somedays I feel like I look like this. Especially when I can't remember when my last shower was, or when my lounge clothes were washed last. Seriously, how can a wee lil babe who does nothing, make it impossible for a mom to do anything? one of lifes mysteries.

One Month Old!

This little guy is a whole month old!!

Everett, you are one month old! how crazy is that!?
You are quite the growing boy. When we left the hospital you weighed 5 lbs 13 oz, and as of today (6.13.11) you weigh 8 lbs 15.5 oz, almost 9 lbs! Wowza! I guess mommys milk is doing its job! You are a great nurser, still zero issues in that area, except maybe that you love it too much. You like to comfort nurse, and I am trying to get you to use a pacifier more, although no luck yet. You are still eating every two hours, day and night, just like when we brought you home. You have no schedule yet, I feed you on demand (and boy you demand it!) and you sleep when you sleep. You always sleep well at night (meaning you sleep between feedings well, we've never lost sleep over you not sleeping), after each feed you fall back asleep very easily. You sleep best swaddled. You are a very noisy boy. You grunt a lot. You also coo, sigh, sneeze, and toot very loud. Your cry, although, is very soft and sweet, until you get hungry. Then you tell us all about it. You are in a very awkward clothing stage. Newborn clothes are too small, but 0-3m is too big. Same with newborn diapers and size 1 diapers. You lost most of the hair on top of your head, and you have baby acne now (but boy are you cute!!)
I don't want to forget:
how you rest your hand on my chest when you nurse. Sometimes you hold onto my clothes too.
your sweet gassy smiles when you sleep
how you sigh and flutter your lips at the same time
how you sleep with your hands by your face or over your head
the way daddy talks to you when he gets home from work "hi-ya, Ev-rett!!"
how you sleep best when you lay in bed with mommy after daddy goes to work

I love you, my sweet boy. You are the most beautiful baby in the world. I am so glad you're mine.

he rolled over.

My newborn rolled over at 12 days. I know people will think we are crazy, but I've had several people tell me theirs did the same so I know its not impossible.
We noticed he was strong from the beginning. He has great head/neck control, and a few days after bringing him home Chris thought he was going to roll from tummy to back while on our bed. I thought he was nuts. The weight of Chris could tilt the mattress, making him roll. Well this "almost" happened a few times. Then one evening, at 12 days, we did tummy time on the floor. Within a minute (seriously) he was on his back. I thought maybe it was a freak thing, but since then he has done it 3 times. I got one time on camera (I forgot when I took these, so I don't know the age, right before 3 weeks I think)

  1. Get mad you're on your belly, even if you like it most of the time. You only seem to hate it when daddy is around...maybe you like to show off for him :)
  2. Get your legs kicking and your left hand moving (he is very dominant with his left side)
  3. Head up, keep kicking
  4. Get on your side...and stick out your tongue.
  5. Get that left arm out from under you....and you did it!!
  6. Now chill. No big deal.
