Glasses

I went to a movie last weekend! It had been a YEAR since I went to see a movie. I was getting jealous of my husband for going to see his superhero movies all summer, so I rounded up my sister law for a classy night at the dollar theatre seeing Katy Perry 3d. Yes, I am a fan of Katy Perry. The movie was short and sweet and we even snuck our happy hour dunkin donuts iced coffee in with us (its 99 cents for any sized iced coffee between 3-6 in case you didn't know!).
I kept my 3d glasses and Everett has been so obsessed. He loves wearing hats, and brings them to me so I put them on his head, and he has been doing the same with these glasses.
These photos of him in the glasses are the more adorable and hilarious photos I have seen in a while!

15 months old

Photobucket
On the 11th Everett turned 15 months old. This post is obviously late, but I still want to do a quarterly update on my little boy.
15 months old is NO JOKE. I was reading Toddlerwise several weeks ago, and it often referred to starting things at 15 months old. I was so curious, why 15 months? What changes in so many kids at that age? WELL, a lot. A lot changes. For us, it was pretty overnight. I am not sure if it was because he started walking right before 15 months or what, but immediately he was a toddler. He is independent, talking, asking for things, climbing everything, and his energy is through the roof.
Since his last post at 12 months, he:

  • Walks! This started this past July, right before 15 months. It felt pretty late to me, I really wanted him to walk. I am kinda glad it was a little late, because I was prepared for him to walk, and it didn't make me sad that he was "growing up". I was so excited for him!
  • Talks! He has been talking for a few months now, but he says and repeats sentences. Mainly "Hi Dada" and "I love you" (only to Chris, not to me lol). He now says: "Da-la-la" (Delilah, our dog), "Ba" (for any drink), "No-no-no-no-no", "na-neigh" (night-night), "ok", and many more I wish I could think of. He still loves to say: ball, clock, mama, dada, hi, bye-bye, yumm, ooooh, balloon, banana and hello.
  • Still signs! He really loves signing. He does: please, more, eat, all done and milk.
  • Climbs everything! He gets on the chairs, on the tables, on my desk, and today to my horror, the barstools! Yikes! I am so trying to teach boundaries and telling him no. He often gets mad when I redirect him and he growls at me. So yeah.
  • Mimics us! He loves to do what we do. Picking up our phones while saying hi, taking a tool to the wall, using pens on paper, and he especially loves to pretend he is working like dad. Chris often works from home on Fridays, and Everett will sit at the table with him, coloring on a legal pad or trying to bang the keys on the laptop.
  • Sings! Kind of. He loves to mimic our singing. I will ask him, "want to sing a song?" and he will start 'singing' "ahhhh, baaaaa" for the ABC's.
He loves going on walks. We had a couple weeks of stormy, cooler weather and now he begs to go in his stroller. I cannot wait for it to cool off so we can go on longer walks and bring the dogs. He will see the stroller in the garage and point to it, yelling "uh!uh!uh!" I am sure all you parents know that noise- them wanting something!
He loves our two little dogs. He hugs them and chases them around. He also loves to feed them his food.
He is a great eater. He loves to snack. His favorite foods right now are: green smoothies that I make every morning, blueberries, bananas, puffs, any chip or crunchy snack, peas, black beans, cheese, eggs, french fries and anything his mom is eating :) He is still nursing. We are trying to wean, and we did try to wean, and I even thought he was done, but no. He is still nursing often and sometimes I feel like he uses me as a pacifier. I am doing the "don't offer/don't refuse" weaning method.
Nap time has been kinda hard. We had just an awesome schedule for so long, and now the transition to one nap has begun. He still sleeps at night from 6:30-6:30a, but some days he will nap twice and some days only once. I usually still try for two, but if he's really energetic or woke late I know its a one nap day. Two nap days are 9 am and 1pm, one nap days are 11am or noon. Or never! Ha. I can't figure it out.

My Little Ever Dean! I love you so much. Your dad and I currently call you Rick (get used to odd nicknames from your father. he is the king of weird nicknames!). Its because Dad started saying "Everrick" and then the Rick stuck. We even have your cousins calling you Rick. You talk about your "dada" all the live long day. You look for him in pictures and are so excited when he walks through the door. But once he gives you attention, NOPE you want your mama again. You are a mamas boy through and through. You stay active all day. You currently run circles around the house. You are a lover. You give the best hugs EVER. You love to love on others by hugging or resting your head on them while hugging. Its adorable. You are turning into a boy right in front of my eyes. I have enjoyed every second of being your mama! Love you!

my son, the smotherer.

IMG_3391 IMG_3390 IMG_3389 IMG_3388

Oh this boy of mine. He is SUCH a lovebug. He hugs, freely give full open mouth kisses, blows kisses and he'll pet you like a dog. BUT throw in another kid, and he gets this little twinkle in his eye, like 'I am going to PUSH ALL YOUR BUTTONS AND LOVE ON YOU TO DEATHHHHHH!!!'
Its like he knows it will drive other kids insane if he smothers them. But he loves to do it anyway. He acts like a pesky little brother to all his older cousins. I think its equally embarrassing and adorable.

Camping

This past weekend we went camping with my sister/brother in law and nephews and niece. I am not going to lie, I was terrified of camping with a one year old. I knew dirt was inevitable, and that didn't bother me, but what did worry me was sleep and weather. I imagined it being super hot and in the direct sun. I also had visions of my son not sleeping at all. One of those things happened :)
We originally wanted to go camping in Sedona, at a place with a trout filled creek and close to a swimming hole. Well, we drove through there and every single camp site was full. So we kept driving and ended up by Flagstaff, camping at Lake Mary. It ended up being WAY better in my opinion. It was  much cooler, not crowded, and close to town so us girls could go shopping! It did rain, but it wasn't too bad.
The first night Everett went to sleep fine, but once we joined him in bed he was up for a good 4 hours straight. Crying, yelling, kicking us, hitting the tent, basically a nightmare. That kid just does NOT sleep well with us. He must have his space. The next night we made a bed for him next to us and he slept perfectly, until he woke for good at 4:30. He was such a trooper though. You can't be frustrated at kids for being out of there element. I took him camping after all! As long as he had snacks and was allowed to play in the dirt/gravel (we bought sand toys which were a hit) he was happy! When us girls went shopping he slept in the ergo, and Sunday before we left we all went shopping again and he also napped in the ergo then as well. That thing is so awesome!
We ended our trip in Jerome because I had an engagement session there. It seemed like a fun little town!

Ok, now heres some photos! IMG_2605 IMG_2608 IMG_2610 IMG_2640 IMG_2671 IMG_2638 IMG_2683 IMG_2694 IMG_2703 IMG_2714 IMG_2722 IMG_2733 IMG_2743 IMG_2750 IMG_2754
