State Fair

Last weekend we went to the AZ State Fair. Everett slept in his stroller pretty much the whole time. I got him out once and put him in the Ergo, and he was pretty happy in there. It seems if you take him out of his car seat and try to put him back in it, he freaks out. He loves to be held but also is a squirmy little boy.
The fair was fun this year- cool outside and not very busy. We did their "happy hour" Friday again (half price admission, half price tickets, $2 food items) and it wasn't as good as last year. I really wanted to try some crazy fair food, but nothing seemed good enough to indulge!
Chris won Everett another Domo, the mini one this time. He is so proud of winning those silly animals! (he also won the basketball he is "spinning" below)

newborn comparisons

oh my goodness- look what I just found!
Ive had Chris' newborn picture since Everett was born, but I just found mine cleaning out the junk drawer!

I wish I had taken a shot of Everett just face on like the hospital would have. I struggled taking his newborn pictures, I wish I had learned more about newborn photography before he was born, not after :(
Anyway, heres a fun comparison! I will have to track down some baby pics of us at 6 months and do this again (can you believe he will be 6 months old!?!)

Chris is on the left, then Ev, then me.

Happy Fall

So we didn't do anything for Halloween.
I didn't even have candy to pass out, so I spent most of the night hiding from the front window so no one knew we were home. I was finally grateful for the broken doorbell that we have yet to fix.
We also went trick or treating at Ev's grandpas house, but no candy for the baby. Just for mom and dad :)

Heres a photo of our little Punkin Head!

teething weekend, again.

So. We had deja-vu this weekend, or week. Only it was worse this time around.
I know teething is different for most babies, but my son who will barely cry at shots seems tortured by his first tooth cutting through. He is clingy, wants to comfort nurse, screams randomly, has the runs, has a runny nose, won't sleep, and is just over all fussy. I thought he may have another cold or ear infection, so we went to the Dr. this morning. She said its definitely teeth, and maybe a cold as well, but sometimes those symptoms are the same. She said his bottom left tooth is almost cut through! Hang in there, Ev, relief is almost here!

I realized I didn't take many pictures this past week. It was pretty busy, and Chris took Thursday and Friday off so we had 4 days in a row together. It kinda felt longer than that, because Wednesday I "went to work with him". Kinda. His boss had me come to his meeting to take photographs. Their meeting was a team building event at a high ropes course. I even went down the zip line!

We watched the World Series religiously. The St Louis Cardinals is my husbands team. He is from St Louis and is bound and determined to make Everett a lifelong fan! It was so fun to watch them win!

1. game 6 win- amazing/2. game 7 food spread

Everett has started sitting up! He is getting so big!!
Today is his first Halloween. I am not sure what we will do as a family, I want to start some sort of traditions but am not sure what yet. I want to make it a positive holiday, and have small traditions like trick or treating at the Grandparents houses or something. I think any opportunity to make memories shouldn't be wasted, so I am determined to start something, maybe next year.

Well looks like thats it. I am pretty sure my iPhone has replaced my convenient point and shoot camera, I am sure its like that for everyone now! I currently have 1200 photos on my phone! Yowza!

teething weekend.

This weekend was sort of a rough one. How long should it take for a baby's first tooth to pop through? Its been a white dot for about 2 weeks, but this last week its gotten more swollen and raised. I'm hoping it comes soon, to relieve him of pain and bring our sweet boy back.

I miss this.

When I was pregnant, it felt like a lifetime. Not because I didn't enjoy it, or because I felt miserable (I didn't), but because I couldn't wait to be a mother. Now that I am a mom, I terribly miss being pregnant. Funny how that works!

I loved being pregnant. It was an amazingly easy pregnancy. My biggest complaints were joint pain and heartburn. I miss having wonderfully thick hair, a cute belly to dress, an excuse to eat whatever I wanted, feeling kicks of my unborn baby, watching a baby move and flip in my belly, and not having to "suck it in". Of course, theres many more aspects that I loved, but I think it makes me sad that I barely remember what it was like to be pregnant. Next time around, if there is a next time, I will cherish it much much more.

loving this age.

oh my Everett. This age has been so much fun. My favorite yet....well, I'd like him to cuddle more like when he was a newborn but thats ok.
He is curious, and happy. He recognizes our voices and will crane his head to see his dad. He laughs at some random times. He is trying so hard to move around. He's not sitting yet, but is scooting pretty well. The past 3 nights he's gone to bed around 8 (he's been seriously fighting it at night, we still try to put him down with in 2 hours of his last nap) and slept til 5AM!! Oh my this sleep has been wonderful. He does like to show off for his dad, took a 4 hour nap on Sunday when we were all home and of course only slept one hour yesterday. I can tell he is teething, he has a corner of a tooth thats popped through. He's had fussy moments but he is still the most joyous little boy. Laughing, cooing, talking, smiling, blowing raspberries, always making noise. He makes my heart leap with joy every time he flashes me those gums.
He's been scratching his head when sleepy and going to sleep. Its so cute, but I can't keep up with those nails, hence the scratches on his lil face. I swear his nails grow faster and faster...
Oh and my lil stinker has starting peeing every time I change his diaper. He hasn't done that since he was a newborn, and he thinks its funny. Another thing he thinks is funny is biting me while eating...I'm pretty sure he thinks my shocked reaction is hilarious. He also laughed when I went to change his diaper and found a blowout so bad it went down his leg to his feet.
I love seeing his personality develop. He is sweet, happy, loves being around people, loves his mama and daddy, curious, funny, and an over all joy.

I thank God for him daily.

Saturday Trip

Saturday we decided to take advantage of this great weather and do a day trip to Goldfield Ghost Town and Tortilla Flat.
The ghost town was a lot of fun and definitely somewhere I would go back to. Tortilla Flat was not much to see, and the windy drive up the mountain to get there is something I can pass on (I do not do well on cliff side roads).

We went with our friends and their two kids. We started the day with the most horrid experience at CoCo's for breakfast. Hair in my husbands drink, switched servers 3x, old rude servers 3x, 30 min wait for food, servers throwing things down....but anyway all that to tell you don't eat there.

At Goldfield the boys panned for gold, we went to the reptile museum, and we wanted to do the train tour but its a cash only place and we ran short. I really liked it there, a cool old town with lots to look at!
