Tara's Shower!

My sweet sister-in-law Tara is having a baby boy. She is due this winter. We celebrated her and baby Ryan a couple weekends ago. It was a very pretty shower! Her mom did a lot of the decorating it looked so adorable. The theme was birds/nests.

Journaling

I wanted to journal this pregnancy. I also wanted it to be something I could put in a memory book along with photos.
I came up with this idea, to do a 'digital journal' that I could eventually print off and put side-by-side to my progression belly pics in a scrapbook or photo album. I am not showing yet, so I haven't taken any, but for now enjoy these entries from the first trimester!

I wish I had done more entries, but not much is going on yet!
I hope to do a belly photo at least every 2 weeks and that will help me to remember to journal.

privacy & pregnancy

Thanks to everyone for supporting me as I made the switch to "private". Not really something I was thrilled to do, but it was important to my husband so thanks for supporting me as I support him.
I am kinda sad that my 'followers' wont increase and I will never have the potential of being a big, famous blogger who makes big bucks for blogging, but oh well. Life is changing and we have to keep a few things for 'certain eyes only'. I can't wait to share the journey of this pregnancy and motherhood with all of you!
Chris and I are so excited to be having a baby! This is something I have of course wanted for a very long time, and even though it was not necessarily 'planned', it is such an exciting thing. We are so thrilled.
I am 12 1/2 weeks pregnant. I found out at 4 weeks, when I thought I was really 7. I thought that would make this whole process feel extremely slow, but this first trimester has flown by. I probably can thank that to having virtually no sickness. I haven't been miserable at all. I have been a little tired, some dizziness, extreme hunger, and very mild nausea. As long as I eat, I feel great! An empty stomach has not been my friend, but still, no throwing up at all (minus the time I took vitamins on an empty tummy, drank a spicy hot V8 too fast, and cleaned up a horrible mess of dog doo. but 3 times in 3 months? I'll take it!).
I did get the flu shot this past Monday and that evening and entire next day was terrible. I did actually throw up the next morning, as was accompanied by a horrible headache and body aches, so I did contribute that to the vaccine and not pregnancy.
I am so thankful for a great 12 weeks so far. I feel so blessed!

I want to go home.

Home is Sacramento. I miss it right now. I guess I usually miss it this time of year. Fall means change of season, something that Arizona does not usually experience. Thankfully its been cool, but I miss seeing leaves change color and fall to the ground.

Photobucket
Fall also means upcoming holidays. I love the holidays, but in a way they make me sad. I wish I was closer to my extended family. I wish my family here had more traditions, sometimes I feel like we just 'get through' the holidays, instead of experiencing them. Even Halloween is a time to make memories. I dont care if people think its from Satan, make it positive for your family. I wish we went to a pumpkin patch and then carved the pumpkins and roasted their seeds. I wish we got together on Halloween to see the kids dressed up and sat in the driveway eating chili and drinking hot chocolate while passing out candy to trick or treaters.
When we went to San Diego for Chris' Aunt Adriennes funeral we saw lots of photos of her dressed up for Halloween and hosting Halloween parties at her house for the kids in the family. I really wish we could start some memories like that.
I know, I know I could start them myself, and I probably will, its just I wish the traditions didn't include just my husband and I, I wish it was something the whole family got involved in. I dont know if its just me, but I would much rather spend holidays with my whole family, not just my husband.
Ok enough about that.
I also miss the food in Sacramento. Lately I have been craving 2 things, and they are only found there.

Jimboys Tacos. They have my favorite tacos of all time. Just the plain, original ground beef kind. Its ground beef, ooey gooey cheese, lettuce, and a fried corn tortilla thats dipped in parmesean cheese. Its AMAZING. I need one.

Togos hot pastrami sandwich (#9). I love hot pastrami. I do not love reubens, however. Togos has the perfect pastrami because it is just meat, mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pepperoccinis. Its amazing. They used to have one here in town, but it closed :( That made me very sad. I am craving this sandwich, terribly.

I also miss my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. I want to go back so bad.

State Fair!

Friday night we went to the AZ State Fair! I love stuff like that.
I was the PERFECT time to go, they had a 'happy hour' where admission was half price (only $5 to get in), games and rides were $1, and tons of food items were $1. A lot of the food venders had small portions of popular food for only a buck.
Lets just say we took advantage. My consumption included but was not limited to: shaved ice, corn dog, Indian fry bread, fried zuccini, the hottest pickle on planet earth and a funnel cake. I know, fatty here.

Can you see Chris' face in this picture?? They said that ride was not fun at ALL.

haha, this is them after it was over:

Chris played MANY games. For 2 reasons: 1) they were $1 2) he was fixated on winning this ugly brown monster.

Well look who got the prize!

Proud of you babe. Hate the stuffed monster though.

Staceys Baby Shower!

Earlier this month I threw our friends, Joe and Stacey a baby shower. She is due with a baby girl the first week of November.
It was a small co-ed shower for some close friends.
I made these invitations:
Photobucket
The colors were brown and pink ( like their nursery). We used empty root beer bottles for vases, and Chris picked up these flowers for them. He did a good job!

Photobucket
I made almost all the food. Pasta salad,

Photobucket
I also made cake pops for the first time. They were a hit!

Photobucket
I also decorated with a lot of their maternity photos that I took a couple months back.

Here I am with Stacey!

It was a fun day and I enjoyed putting this all together for some close friends!

8 Questions

1. If your husband was out of the picture, what would you have named your child(ren)? (If you don't have a child, then hypothetically.)
We dont have kids yet, but I love the name Sawyer for a boy and Anaston for a girl. I know Chris wont go for either name.

2. When do you usually go to bed?
I force myself to stay up til 9, since I feel like that is an acceptable bed time.

3. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Europe and Austrailia.

4. If you could change one thing about yourself physically, what would it be?
Chris would say my feet. I would say my chubby round face.

5. If you could have one talent that you don't already have, what would it be?
I wish I was athletic and enjoyed active

6. If you had your choice, where would you live?
Somewhere cooler. I love Northern California, where I am from.

7. What material thing is on the top of your "wish list?"
A wedding ring set to replace my (still) lost one.

8. What is one of the dumbest things you have ever done?
Just one? This will be hard to choose. I guess finishing a whole pan of 7 layer bean dip between Sunday and today.

Thanks Shay for the tag!

this day.

has been short of 'great', or even 'good'.
i woke up to chris telling me something was wrong with our teeny 4 lb chihuahua, delilah. didnt surprise me since we have thought something was up for the past couple days. she is super hyper, almost crazed, and will run in circles crying. then she stops and stratches the heck out of herself and bites her paws. she is normally a hyper dog, but she wouldnt calm down for anything, unless i held her very tightly. i gave her a bath in anti itch shampoo and then blow dried her fur so she wouldnt get cold. she still acted nuts. then she started nesting. so i called the vet, who could see her in 30 minutes.
i then got on blogger to blog the baby shower i did last saturday. sitting there i saw a picture frame i needed to hang up. i had a ton on the floor since i was painting some. well, i got up, and the corner of glass from a from insert went right into the side and bottom of my big toe. i had a cut about 2 inches long and very deep. chris was at work and since it was on my right foot i couldnt drive myself to the er. 30 minutes and a ton of blood later my mom arrives and we go to the hospital. they gave me 7 stiches and it was by far the most painful thing i have ever experienced.
well i missed the vet appointment. and i had to cancel a photoshoot. i am in a lot of pain.
delilah is better now. i gave her a little benadryl.
lets hope tomorrow is better, the only way it can be is if the cardinals win...it will put chris in a good mood at least.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday I turned 24. It feels pretty good.
Sunday night my mom made dinner for my twin brother and I. She made lasagna which is one of my favorite things she makes.
She also got me my most favorite dessert, French Silk Pie. I am still enjoying left overs of both.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Its breast cancer awareness month. "I like it on the kitchen counter" what is that nonsense about.

Photobucket
Emerson enjoyed her pie with her hands.

Photobucket
Present time! (thanks family for a great night and wonderful, thoughtful gifts)

Photobucket
I had to work yesterday and my co-workers did a great job of making me feel SUPER special. Thanks guys!

Photobucket
I had Chris take me to Z'Tejas for dinner. I love this restaurant. Sadly, it was not very good this time around. And she charged us for my 'surprise' birthday dessert. Tacky!

Photobucket

After dinner I made Chris walk around Ikea with me and shop, shop, shop. He hates that place so I thought I would take advantage of my him birthday. Now this weekend he can hang up all the curtains we bought!

I love birthdays!! I especially love when they are drawn out all week :)

p.s. sorry about not having a 'real' camera for this post. all i had was my phone.
