baby shower #2!

My close group of girlfriends that I met through the first salon I worked at (over 2 years ago, and we are still as close as ever), threw me a little dinner shower at Joes Farm Grill! I loved this place, the atmosphere, and how you can sit outside and enjoy the big trees and nice weather. Well, of course the one night we go it is pouring rain! I was so upset about this, I know its crazy, but we still had a great time!

April showers...

brings a May baby :) My mom, sister and close family friend threw me a shower with close friends and family. We had it at my house, and it was a storybook/nursery rhyme theme. I thought it was cute and subtle, since I really hate themed things (which is why some would say our nursery isn't very "babyish").

Thanks everyone for making me feel so special! I know my son will be so loved! Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

Some baby photos of us: Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket mini pies (I am not a cake person, but pie I LOVE): Photobucket

He got lots of cute outfits and many books for his library! I am still going through everything and finding homes for things! I am loving "nesting" in his room. Photobucket Here I am, 33 weeks! (now almost 35, its getting soooo close!) Photobucket

FAQ's

We all know with pregnancy comes unsolicited advice, and awkward questions from everyone. Now, I do not mind either. At all. Please, tell me things I may not know. I want to know everything! And I love being pregnant and any chance someone asks me to talk about it, I will. I thought I'd share what I have been hearing the most of lately in case you too, are wondering.

Are you going to breastfeed?
Yes, yes, yes. I am going to. I catch my self saying "I'm going to try!", but I don't like the sound of it. I will breastfeed. I will. I am terrified of not having milk. That is my one fear. I am ready to endure the pain, and the hard work that is breastfeeding. I am ready for all that...but I fear nothing will come in. I pray everything will go smoothly in that department.

Are you having him at the hospital?
Yes. Home births have no appeal to me.

Are you going to get drugs?
Yes. Natural birth has no appeal to me.
My other biggest fear is having to have surgery. I really want to be able to have a vaginal
birth. I am although having him in a hospital, because I understand things happen and he
may need to arrive via c-section. I am preparing my mind for that.

Does he have a name?
#1 question always. No, he is not named. We are throwing Sawyer around, but it is not set.
My husband fell in love with the name Theodore and has not given up hope for it. I hate that name. We kinda stopped talking about names a few weeks ago. It just goes nowhere. I do not feel like I need to see him to name him, but that may just be what happens.

Are you going to cloth diaper?
Not that I know of. I have some diapers already and I figure people will give me more, so I plan on using those. I haven't done much research on it, but if I did do it, it'd probably be just when we are at home.

Are you going back to work?
As of now, yes. I plan on working about 2o hours a week once he is a couple months old. I hate answering this question because I feel judged. I wish I could stay home, but this was not a planned pregnancy and had it been a year down the road I probably could stay home. We just moved into this home and my income is still needed. I do love my job and it is very flexible and I am so grateful for that. We are trying to work out the budget, downsize somethings and cut out others so my income is not such a big stress.

Will you be pumping?
Yes. I plan on pumping at work. My dear friend lent me her Medela In Style pump (yes I got new equipment for it). I want to avoid formula at all cost. Part of that is because I believe breast is best, but the MAIN reason is because breastmilk is free. I am all about free.

any more questions? ask away! and give me any tips you may have!

D.C. Day Three

Our last day in D.C. we wanted to do a couple things: The Holocaust Museum and the National History Museum. Oh, and I wanted a milkshake.

We got to do all 3! yahoo!
I didn't take as many photos. The Holocaust museum doesn't allow them, and it was a rainy dreary day. The Holocaust museum was so nice and beautiful for being a place to remember such a horrible time. It was my favorite part of the whole weekend.

Isn't this sign eerie? its from the Cold War era. It was so awesome to be somewhere that is so so old!

Wow. What a great little "babymoon". I loved D.C. so much! I have never been to the east coast (minus one layover in the Atlanta airport). Chris and I are both into history and love museums so this trip was perfect for us.
When we got home my feet were so tired I took off my boots and my ankles and feet were so swollen! It was really bad, my first episode of swollen prego feet! I also had many contractions after getting home. I think it was all the walking we did. Everything is ok though, I went to the Dr the day after we got back.
Thanks to my awesome husband again! Gosh, I adore that man.

D.C. Day Two

Day two we got up early to enjoy breakfast and go see everything! We walked everywhere. It was exausting by the time we were ready to leave, but definitley the way to go!

Me and the babes! Its funny, for as much as I was walking that day, he was still moving all the time. Everything I read says walking will put them to sleep, but not for this little guy. I can't wait to meet him!

We were surprised to see a couple cherry blossom trees in bloom. They are so beautiful! We stood there getting photos of them for a good 30 minutes, I bet everyone thought we were nuts!

We got a little tour from one of those bike guys pulling a cart. We were tired from seeing all the museums and most of the National Mall, and this was a way we could see all the memorials without walking another 4 miles. It was worth it!!

D.C. Day One!

We left Friday morning from Phoenix and got to D.C. around 3pm. The cab ride to our hotel was kinda long...and after a long, foodless flight we were starving!
So we left our stuff in our room and ran out to find dinner.

Photobucket

We found this awesome salad place. It was so so good. You can pick a salad off the menu, or choose your own lettuce/toppings, and then they chop it all very finely and toss with dressing. It was delicious.

Photobucket

I had a Cobb, Chris made his own.

Photobucket

Their soda fountain was yummy too!

Later I wanted dessert, and lucky for me there was a cafe/crepery right across the street from our hotel!

Photobucket

Chris had gelato.

Photobucket

Yum I had to have a decaf cappuccino. There is no photo of my nutella crepe, but it was heaven.

Photobucket

Here is our hotel. We went back that night and enjoyed cable TV and HBO. Its a luxury when you dont have it at home!
Our hotel was so great. We got free breakfast buffet, which was not what you think....it was tons of fruit, pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, an omlette station, and a waffle station. I ate my fair share both days. Nothing beats free buffets!

Why my husband ROCKS part 3,298

While we were at the mall and leaving through Nordstrom, he snuck away (i was in the potty. usual) and bought me this bag:

Photobucket

He loves it too. Its "masculine enough", he says.

Then, Thursday evening he tells me we are taking a trip.
"where???"" He wouldnt tell me. He did call my boss and get me out of work on Friday, which I thought was pretty smooth.
Then, we go to the airport Friday morning, and leave on a plane taking us here:

Photobucket

Seriously. He is the BEST person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing, and he married me. Gosh I am lucky.
