its sunday so lets talk about friday...

Happy Mothers today! Today at church I wished many moms 'happy mothers day', and many of them wished it back to me, and then quickly said 'oh wait, you aren't a mother!'. Yeh, I know. Its okay. I am a patient girl...

Ok here are pictures from Friday and our peach adventure!
My pickingsMy moms peachesWe rode the train...Pictures along the way...

I made a cobbler from my peaches! First time I made one! not to brag...but it was GOOOOOD! I searched and searched for recipes...but I hated them all, so this little cobbler came straight from my head! Just peaches, 1/2c sugar, 1/3 brown sugar, 2 tbsp flour and 2 tsp cinnamon (thats some butter sprinkled on top of the filling)

check out those lattice skills!!

this is me on the news...in case you unfortunately missed it. HA! I lied in the last post, the clip of me was probably less than a second :) Tracey and Allison are next to me, they didn't know they were in the frame!

Tomorrow is our 1 year wedding anniversary!!!

I am on TV!

So today my mom, sister, nephew and some friends went to Schnephf Farms to pick peaches and have breakfast. Our waitress asked if any of us would like to eat a piece of pie for the camera, and being the ham I am of course I said yes. Aidan ate some pie for the camera too. They'll probably use his clip.

So if anyone would like to see me make-upless and stuffing half a piece of peach pie in my mouth for approxiately 1.2 seconds, tune into FOX 10 News between 5&6.

working on some pages...

Chris was out last night playing basketball so I made a couple pages...

they are both pretty simple, but hey- they were SUPER quick and free!

I am hoping to make an album with these and many others I plan to make from our wedding. The trickiest part of digital scrapbooking is printing the pages...it is not like a paper scrapbook where you have the 9x9 or 12x12 pages (idk maybe their are special printers and paper but too much money)...most of the printing is done through stores, my photocenter of choice is Costco. I have asked many ladies how they print their pictures and have heard many suggestions, from combines pages to make an 16x20 and printing that off to sending them in to online specialty printers...

but I have chosen to make all my pages an 8x10 layout and print them off at Costco for $1.50 a page. Now, the hard part is finding an album :)

carnival ride tour...

So Friday night my good friend Krystle and I ventured down to Tucson to see Carrie Underwood in concert. We got SO lost! Our directions were a little skewed because the I-10 is all tore up and exits are closed down...but we found our way. We made a couple stops to ask for directions, and no one was much help. Tuscon hates us Phoenicians. Well, the concert was so fun- but again, weird crowd...older people, lots of cowboys, low energy. Anyway we had a blast and our seats were AMAZING! Plus, Carrie Underwood is just so cute.

minor redocorations

I got some decorations from Kirklands to hang above our bed. I took the old stuff down and rearranged it for the bathroom. I hung everything you see in these pictures ALL ALONE! It was crazy, you definitely need help while straightening and spacing 4 separate pieces! I did all this for under 50 bucks! We love it!

This used to be above our bed along with a blank frame. I decided to take down the old collage I had here and put this shelf. I made these letters a while back and am so proud of them. I also printed some smaller pictures from the wedding to put in the frames that I took down. I really want wedding pictures in our room, its always been a dream of mine, but impatience got the best of me! I also was unhappy with the cheapy pictures that used to hang here, so instead I am doing some of our professional pictures. Once I hang those I will show a close up of the letters!
This is above our toilet... :)

I will have some pictures soon of our bedroom and from today (well, today isn't over so I will post those tomorrow). Chris and I were both off today and we have Aidan with us for a few hours. We are having fun hanging out with him and running errands, just trying to get a few things done.
So I have an embarrassing story for all of you...today we went to the dry cleaners to drop off clothes. Chris ran in and I stayed in the car with the baby, and shortly Chris comes out and hands me a pair of my underwear that had somehow got stuck in the cleaners bag! And the worst part is, the girl there found them and had to give them back to Chris. So embarrassing. I bet she will tell all her coworkers how she found hot pink undies while counting items! I know this from experience, my first job was at a dry cleaners and we all just LOVED telling each other what emabarrassing things we find! (you'd be shocked!)
Ok well I will have those pictures soon!

small updates

I haven't posted in a little while..not too much going on around here. We are both pretty busy with work and everyday tasks that get so tedious, but we are doing good. Chris is finally transferring out of Gold Canyon and back to Chandler, we will actually be working in the same parking lot! I hope we can car pool as much as possible, but our shifts are so different is might be a little difficult, although I know I will be the one willing to hang around for him :)
I am trying to get our bedroom decorated. It was semi-decorated, but I got so tired of waiting for our wedding picture to come in and fill that frame above our bed (right now we look like we have a Michaels advertisement above our bed) that I went and bought new stuff! It is so cute I cannot wait to hang it up (or for Chris to hang it up). I will also be redoing our bathroom as well.
A while back we got a new desktop computer so we don't have to share this little laptop. It was with the intention that I feed my creative flare of photography, photoshop, digiscrapping, etc, etc...but since its a Mac I have no clue how to use it. Its strange too since I have a background using a Mac, but this new one is so confusing. Chris is in love with it though...
I just finished my gift for Chris for our one year anniversary that is fast approaching...only 17 days! I am really excited for this. I am totally ready for the first year to be behind us and for us to just keep moving forward (anyone else feel this way?)

Until next time,
Shannon

Our dogs

This is Chloe. She is quite the lover.
Samson is a booger and is always getting into everything. One day I came home from work to find the door to the laundry room where we keep them wide open- which means trouble. In the living room I found my wooden kitchend utensils on the floor all chewed up...which confused me since we keep them on the countertop. Well, soon after we found out he actually CAN get on the counters! (on the otherside of this half wall are the kitchen counters)

Concert in May!!

Yay my friend Krystle and I are going on a little road trip to Tucson so we can go see Carrie Underwood in concert! I love her music, but I am so excited to spend some time with Krystle! We have known each other since high school and have the same maiden name ( I think thats cool :) but we live on opposite sides of the valley so anytime we can hang out I am honored!!

ZOO

This past weekend Chris and I babysat Aidan ans we decided to take a trip to the zoo! We went with my good friend Lyndsey and her cute daughter Brekyn!

I cannot figure out how to put these pictures in order! We had a great time- Aidan slept through most of it but he loved the giraffes. I think Brekyn had the most fun though! She loved to see the snakes!

Yummy Dinner

Turkey Meatloaf

1½ lb ground turkey
1 yellow onion, minced
1 carrot, peeled and chopped
1 zucchini, peeled and chopped
1 egg
1 garlic clove
¾ cup bread crumbs
1 tsp tomato paste
½ cup Chicken broth
1 tbsp olive oil
¼ tsp dried thyme
½ cup milk
Salt and pepper to taste

Topping:
1 tbsp ketschup
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
½ tbsp brown sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a medium saute pan, over medium-low heat, cook the onions, olive oil, salt, and pepper until translucent, but not browned, approximately 15 minutes. Add the chicken stock, and tomato paste and mix well. Allow to cool to room temperature.
Mince the garlic, zucchini and carrot in the food processor.
Combine the ground turkey, bread crumbs, egg, milk, thyme, veggie mixture, and onion mixture in a large bowl. Mix well and shape into a rectangular loaf on an ungreased sheet pan. Combine the ketchup, mustard and brown sugar. Spread the topping evenly on top. Bake for 1 hour.

OK so I never grew up eating meatloaf. In fact, the first time I tried it was when I made it for Chris and I just a couple months ago. I loved it! This time I tried to tweak a couple of recipes I found, and it turned out very good! It was a little bit dry just because it is turkey and not beef- thats why I put milk in the recipe. Also, I would recommend extra topping! its the best part!

So I really wanted to play a prank today, and I thought about posting a blog announcing that I was pregnant...but Chris was very against that. haha...anyways I hope everyone has a good, prank-free day! I am just hanging out with my nephew today and am going to attempt to make turkey meatloaf- and thats no lie! If its good I will post the recipe!
