Oysters

I had my very first experience with Oysters today.

I really love seafood, but these guys look scary. I ended up loving them!

I told my husband: "I ate about 6 oysters today. Do you know what they are??"

"No."

"An aphrodisiac"

Husband, oh so witty: "Ironically the thought of you eating oysters has the opposite affect on me."

The other night I made a big batch of extra-large cupcakes for our small group at church. It had just been Chris' birthday the day before, so I thought it was a good occasion!

Although the kids just licked the frosting off, it seemed like they were a hit!

As the years go by, it gets harder and harder for me to buy him presents (especially since when he wants something, he must go buy it at that moment. He never waits. So it leaves me with ideas!)

oh my goodness I can now say that, and mean it! I have weekends off now!

No more Saturday or Sundays shifts.

I had every intention on posting what we did last weekend, but this week got crazy. I really love my new job. It keeps me busy!

This week I think I went shopping every day after work. Whoops. I just felt like since I have a new job, I need new clothes :) No need to even wait for my first check! ha.

I started a new job today, and I really love it!

I am no longer working with my esthetics license, which makes me very truly sad :(

Right now I need to be making money like the rest of the world, and the beauty industry wasn't doing well in the profit department. I will always have it, and am still so grateful to have used it and gone to school for it.

I will be working in a medical office and am very excited to learn about that whole field!

Food, INC.

I reluctantly watched this movie last night.

I was afraid to watch it, because I was afraid of what I would learn and see.

I was afraid I would never want to eat again. A lot of the times documentaries are so biased to the left they usually just make me angry. This movie wasn't, it was mostly just informative.

I have to say, I was very glad I watched it. There are some disturbing images, but the whole movie is slightly disturbing. It talks about what is in the food we eat, with a strong focus on the meat industry.

I was just waiting for some sort of 'boycotting' message at the end, but they did a great job of telling consumers how we can change the food carried by all grocery stores, even Wal-Mart. It was very encouraging. We will most definitely start buying only natural chicken and supporting local farmers markets.

Oscars

Sunday I watched the Oscars from start to finish, including the red carpet special on E!

I am pretty sure I was glued to the tv for about 6 hours. Maybe 7. I don't know.

My favorite 'look' was Miley Cyrus. I thought she looked gorgeous. She really is a gorgeous girl (until she opens her mouth. that voice, I tell ya)

Rachel McAdams is my favorite actress. She is so beautiful. I loved the pattern on this gown.

Demi Moore kinda looked like she was wearing an Ace bandage for a dress, but I really liked it. I was so intrigued at the color and how it matched her skin tone, stunning. I couldn't help but wonder how actresses like her and Sandra Bullock do.not.age. Really, whats their secret? They don't look fake at all, just naturally young and beautiful. I want to be that!

Chris and I saw The Hurt Locker a few weeks back. We thought it was boring. We are now convinced that all the movies that win best picture are the ones that leave you saying "what does that mean?" or "that didn't make any sense". The Hurt Locker was one of those. You think at the end, "why was that a story?" Really it wasn't anything special to me. I really loved Inglorious Basterds, The Informant!, and 500 Days of Summer from 09. We never saw Up, Avatar or The Blind Side. We usually just wait til movies are out on video these days.

I don't know if I ever will sit through that show again. Well who am I kidding I must see what the girls are wearing!

American Idol is awful this season. I am not rooting for anyone yet. It's not much fun to watch when you don't care for any of the contestants.

(p.s. I was not rooting for Adam Lambert last season. He is super creeps)

We had a little dinner on Sunday for my moms birthday.

We had a baked potato bar.

We had ice cream cupcakes.

We played some Wii.

The little ones watched.

Rainbow

The weather lately has been very rainy, but at the same time, very sunny. This is the kind of rainy weather I like!

I have been taking it easy the past few days, I am still feeling yucky. The rain is so fitting when you are sick! No reason at all to get out of bed :)

Dog Sittin'

We sure have a full house this weekend. We are watching my mother-n-laws chocolate lab, who although loves to howl and bark is the sweetest big dog I have ever encountered. I usually cant tolerate large dogs, mainly because I feel like they get in the way, but after watching him I may have changed my mind. Chris also adores him!

This is a friends Boston Terrier who we also have for a few days.

When I was a little girl we had a Boston named Jasper who attacked me one day while chewing on Big League bubble gum. I now have two scars on my mouth, but no hard feelings toward the breed :) This little guy is so well behaved!

Who needs a dog sitter?? We should run a business!

For the past 2 weeks I have been feeling like I have a cold. My throat has been so sore I can barely swallow. At night it swells and I feel like I am choking. I finally felt so bad I decided to go to the doctor. We switched insurance so as of now I don't have a doctor, so I just went to urgent care.
I sat at urgent care for a total of 2 hours in the midst of sick, screaming children and their oblivious parents. I finally got seen and tested for strep throat. It was negative, which I was happy for but if it was positive I at least would've had a diagnosis, right? Do you ever feel like if you go to the doctor and Aren't sick, then it was a waste? I do.

The doctor then saw me and noticed that I am not taking birth control and asked if there was a chance I could be pregnant. Me, thinking, well if we aren't using protection then there's always a chance, said yes. Mistake. She lectured me for a while about how I need to be on vitamins and how I can't take any meds if I could be prego (except tylenol). So she wouldn't prescribe me anything, let alone take a urine sample. Very, very strange. I wish I never would've said 'yes' so I would be on my way to feeling better! This is the pits!

My husband.

I love this man. Seriously sometimes I think I am crazy obsessive over him and that I actually am crazy...but I think that's ok. He is my husband after all, I can love him as much as I want!!

Here are 10 reasons why:

1. He works so hard. He wouldn't be able to provide like he does if he didn't have such great work ethic and drive.
2. He never complains. He gets up very early and comes home late, lately working 6 12 hour shifts a week.....and he never complains about it.
3. He loves to laugh and make me laugh.
4. He adores our two pups. I think its so sweet how much he loves our dogs.
5. He loves his family and really would do anything for them.
6. He is so handy and I love a man that can fix something!
7. He is super smart and wears a suit to work, which is very sexy.
8. He is very honest and will always tell the truth, but will sugar coat when needed (I am sensitive and need sugar coated honesty :))
9. He would do anything for me. He adores me. It melts my heart.
10. Lastly, I love him because he loves the Lord.

I could go on.... but I will stop being mushy now!
