Forever 22.

Yesterday was my birthday! I turned 22.
What a great day it was!
Chris surprised me by taking me down to the new Forever 21 in Chandler to wait in line because the first 200 people in the door won gift cards ranging from $10-210! We got there at 7:30 (it opened at 10) and were only like the 25th in line. We won $30 in gift cards- better than nothing! It was fun (for me), I love doing stuff like that! Plus its my favorite store!

Then we shopped around the mall for a bit and went to lunch. I was starting to get bummed out because I had money to shop, and saw nothing I liked! Thats totally Murphys Law of shopping! Before dinner with my family, we ran into Old Navy to look around and all their clearance is an additional 50% off! And it was all really good stuff! I got jeans for $3.24, a dress for $4.99, and a sweater for $4.99- nothing makes me happier than good bargain shopping. We also stopped by the San Tan Forever 21 to shop with the gift cards we won (we didn't shop at the new one- it was a mad house). I picked out two shirts I liked that were on sale for $14.99 each, and I went to check out and they rang up at $4.99!!!! So of course, after dinner I went back and bought 6 more tops for $30! Amazing. I am never able to find good deals when I actually am looking!

Ok, pictures.
Chris brought these home for me on Friday. My fav.My friend Laurel at work makes cakes! She made this one on Friday for me.She is really good :)

The birthday kids....In case you didn't know, I have a twin brother- so it was his birthday too :)

Ok so we are fake sleeping. But last night Chloe snuck under the covers with me, and I had to get a picture.

Irritated.

I am getting kinda irritated by this blog. It gets annoying that people read this instead of just contacting me or seeing me in person. I wanted to do this to keep out of town family and friends updated and instead I feel like some people just use this to be nosy and then don't have to keep in touch with me.
I am just a little frustrated.

ok. good night.

I hit the ground running...

Literally.
I decided I wanted to be skinny. I know I am not fat or anything, I have just hit that wall of 'I can't eat whatever I want to anymore'. I know I have put a couple extra lbs on since I got married too, so with a wedding coming up- why not get fit? Well thats what was in my mind last week when I bought 2lb dumbbells at Target, and also what was on my  mind when  I thought it was a good idea to run with them Sunday morning. I never run. I loathe running. Why did I go running?? Oh yeah, to be skinny. Well as I pass one or two houses on my run and approach a construction site, I trip and fall and the weights go flying and I skid a good two feet. Oh the pain!
I have never been this busted up before! Skinned hands, gash on my side and elbow, road rash all down my left side, two busted up knees. Rocks and dirt in every cut! And I was gushing blood!
(I did take pictures, but they are gruesome, I think it was gross everyone out)
I will never run again. I will stick to my trusty bike.

Please my blogging buddies, remind me to exercise. I was going to post a blog about how I wanted all of you to keep me accountable on this drop 5lbs or so expedition, but that was before I almost died on the sidewalk. But you can still hold me to it. And that goes for all you that I know read my blog and never give me a comment shoutout. Hold me to it too, since I know you are watching!!!!

Thanks friends. My body is sore but my mind is still up to the task.

Funny Story

I wanted to post this crazy story before I forgot it!
Yesterday as I was rushing into the hospital to meet the baby, a lady stopped me.
Keep in mind that 1. We were right outside the hospital entrance and 2. She is around 8 months pregnant.
She says to me, "Excuse me, do you smoke?"
Me: "No, I don't"
"Oh. Bummer. I am pregnant, but I really want a cigarette."
I am sure this is when I gave her the look of horror!!
Her: "I try not to buy them, since when I do I smoke the whole pack. But I stopped buying them. But now that no one will give me just one cigarette I wind up buying and smoking the whole pack."
I tried to politely just walk away.
I cannot believe people still do this! And especially outside of a hospital where smoking isn't allowed as it is, but where doctor or someone could see her smoking!

Oh this world we live in. What a crazy place it is.

dry spell.

I have nothing to blog about. I can think of things I will soon be blogging about, but they haven't happened yet. Hence the list.
THINGS WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO:
  • Our niece arriving any day now. My sister is once again over her due date. I want to meet that little angel so bad!!
  • My birthday, October 4th. Mark your calenders! haha. I took my birthday off for the first time EVER, since it falls on a Saturday and I would be working at night. Who wants to do that??
  • My cousin Jessica getting married in October. We will be taking a week off from work to go visit all my family in Sacramento and enjoy the wedding. I am most looking forward to this!!
  • My work schedule changed a bit for the better. Not so many evening shifts. This means more family time and me being able to cook more for Chris and I, which I love doing.
  • Halloween. I don't know if I am really looking forward to this holiday, its just coming up.
  • Thanksgiving. My favorite holiday. Not so much pressure as Christmas, much more relaxed.
  • Finally putting up the Christmas tree we bought on clearance last year!
  • Chris graduating from ASU this semester. He makes me so proud!
  • Christmas. I won't think about this as much. Christmas is stressful. So many people to visit and splitting our time up between families and buying gifts for everyone....I am already getting a headache.
Hopefully the next post won't be too far off!

oh what have I done!

Today I chopped off my hair. After 4 years of growing it out, I gave up. I just didn't have a 'style' anymore...it was so blah. I really couldn't figure out how to style my hair long. It was always so frizzy and flat! Plus, finding my long dark hairs everywhere was getting old. So I planned for the chop. I talked to my hair stylist a while back about it, and finally got brave enough to just do it already! So today I did it. I am still in shock.

This is me a couple months ago doing who knows what...sheesh what a goober I am.
And me today!
I am adjusting.

more crafts

Here are a couple things I have done. We had a small shower for my sister last night, here are the invitations I made for it: Then the nursery decorations I made for my sister. Those letters I have shown once before, hung on the wall.
And some canvases I decorated with the same paper and paint as the letters.
Just a couple weeks left until my niece Emerson arrives!

sad books.

I don't know whats up with me and loving sad books. Ones that just make you bawl at the end!!!
Here are two books I just read recently:

This book was so good I would highly recommend it. I usually read Christian Fiction but I have been reading everything these days. Well, mainly whatever I can borrow from other people :) My Sisters Keeper will be coming out as a movie next year, so read it now and see the movie! I love doing that. Prepare to cry though. Its so sad...
I finished this book last night. I couldn't put it down! Chris wanted to go to bed and I wanted to read so I got out the flashlight to read like a little kid would do. I am glad he wasn't awake to see me boo-hooing when I finished. This is a really sad story, clean for the most part just has some abuse. Read this book! Its so touching.

If you need a good cry....read these!

things that bless my heart...

This weekend we helped little Aidan celebrate his first birthday. He is just the sweetest boy. Today I was over at his house and he was thoroughly enjoying the little ATV rider thing we got him. He is so much fun, I just can't wait to have kids of my own. It is such a big desire in my heart to be a mother, sometimes so big I feel engulfed by it. When we first married everyone kept telling me that the baby bug would go away in a couple months, but it hasn't. Other people tell me they get the baby bug but it goes away after a day or so, but I have had it for about 15 months straight since the wedding. Oh patience, please be my best friend.

Anyway, what I am getting at it is this little man blesses my heart. My entire family does. I am excited to one day start my own....but for now I love running around with the nephew, and seeing him interact with his Uncles. They are funny boys!

So funny that they even decided to play a trick on me. Chris threw a football at my head, Craig took a picture, and Aidan thought it was hilarious.

Guitar Picks

Chris has really been playing his guitar lately. He loves it, I can really see the passion he has for worship and music in him. It encourages me. He also needs to be practicing it, since he is going to be leading worship for a church plant here in QC that we are both helping launch (thats a whole other post though :).
So he kept losing guitar picks, and he came across how to make your own and asked me to make them. Its so easy and fun to do! I modified how I made them a bit.

What you need:
  • Old credit/gift cards
  • Scissors
  • Xacto knife
  • pen
  • nail filer'
  • guitar pick
Trace your guitar pick onto the old credit/gift card with a pen, as many times on the one card that will fit. Then trace the outline with the xacto knife (this makes it easier to cut out.) Then cut around the outline, it should easily pop out. Finally, file the rough edges until smooth.

home

So we've been home for a couple of hours, and only to find that our laptop battery is shot. It won't live unplugged for more than an hour. Worse, it is the computer I use to upload and edit picture on. Which means no San Diego pictures for maybe a week since thats how long it takes to deliver a new battery! I am so sad! My lovely husband is trying to get the Photoshop we've had for a while to work on our Mac I am using now...for some reason the program will not download! I am really hoping that it will work since Photoshop is an awesome program and using the Mac is much better for artsy purposes.

back to the trip:
It was nice to get away. We had a short visit in San Diego. We got to stay with Chris' Aunt and Uncle who live in a lovely home right outside the city. It was really nice visiting with them. Sunday we wanted to leave around 3 am, but we woke up around 6 am. Whoops! We got in town around noon and had lunch with Aunt Adrienne and Uncle Jerry, got settled in, and then headed off to the beach. Or so we thought! We must have drove around for over an hour looking for parking at Mission Beach. The roads were crowded and we kept getting turned around. So we decided to go to Tiajuana for some shopping. Well we were there for about 5 minutes, literally, before Chris said 'We need to go, I don't think this is safe'. So we headed to another beach that was much quieter and very nice. Then we decided to have dinner downtown, since my friend and Chris' relative recommended the same Italian restaurant. Well, again, we got lost. Very lost this time! It seemed so easy to get lost because you can see where you want to go, but parking is so hard to find that you drive so far out of the way you can't find your way back! Haha. Monday we went to the beach all day, it was so nice. Today we left around 9 am, we planned on going to the Zoo for a few hours before hitting the road- but we were really tired. I am so sun burnt too, being in the heat more would've been so painful! AND- we stopped for gas before going to the Zoo and locked our keys in the car. Go figure. So we just went home.
Oh traveling is such an adventure! Well back to work tomorrow...and pictures, soon.......??? (lets hope!)

mole...

This is my last post about this I promise....
so the finale was last night, not last week like I said in the post below.
It was very anticlimactic, we were right about Craig being the mole and Mark won.
No surprises for us, but it was fun to watch and be right the whole time!

San Diego, here we come!

So we are headed outta here! Sunday morning we are driving to the beach for a few days! yay yay. And to be honest, I can't remember if I have actually been to San Diego. I grew up in Sacramento and I know we visited many beaches, but where I don't know. I would call my mom and ask, but that lucky duck is in Hawaii right now. I know every trip to the beach since living here has been in the L.A. area- which we are SO not fans of.

thats all for now!

Middle Name Game!

  1. You have to post the rules before you give the facts.
  2. Players - You must list one fact that is somehow relevant to your life that corresponds with each letter of your middle name.
  3. At the end of your post, you need to choose one person for each letter of your middle name to tag.

MICHELLE

M: Mother-wanna-be. What can I say I caught the baby bugs like 15 years ago and am still infected! bleh!

I: in love...awww.

C: Creative. Hey, I try.

H: Home-body. I could totally be at home all the time, maybe even for days on end and not know it- just kidding. That would make me a hermit, and that is one H I am not, or hope I'm not :)

E: Esthetician! My career! I love my job- I give facials all day and wax people, its the most fun job ever. Any skin ?'s just ask me!!!

L: Liddle (as in little, with two d's). Chris says I don't pronounce my t's very well- and he always makes fun of me when I say "liddle"

L: Loveable. A few years ago at my churchs women's retreat we had to give ourselves a new 'name', something we wanted to speak over ourselves and believe. I gave this as my name. I am still struggling with believing it, and still have to speak it over myself.

E: Epipen. I carry one in my purse, in case I go into anaphylactic shock from eating a nut (its happened before....).

Now I have to tag 8 people! 8! holy cow.

Krystle, Ashley, Kim, Logan, Tara, Lyndsey, Olivia, and last but not least, Rebecca, since we share the same middle name ♥
